• So you want to be a penpal to someone then do you? Well the first thing you need to do is ask yourself what sort of penpal do you want male or female or both?.. E-mail or Snail mail or both.

• What age do you want your penpal to be say 18 to 25... So look at the adverts on penpal sites for someone you think suits you to write to.

• So are you going to look for a penpal? or post an advert on a site for one ?... Posting an advert is the first thing the person sees of you. It is like an job interview in a way. What you say in your advert makes all the difference from getting a penpal to not getting a penpal.

• So you going to post an advert. What do you say? How am going to word it?

• look at the two adverts below and see which one would you write to? I know which one I would choose......

• Your advert can be as long as you like. You dont want it to be too short or too long.. Get right to the point say something which would catch a person looking at the adverts their eye .

• Dont say things in your advert which could be said in an e-mail or letter.

• Say what gender of a penpal you are looking for single , age etc.

• The most inportant thing in an advert is make it clear, right to the point.....

• You must remember the first e-mail or letter is the first thing your new penpal sees of you. What sort of person you are. It even comes right done to your handwritting if by snail mail.....

• So you going to e-mail your new found penpal ... The 1st e-mail does not want to appear boring make it intersting but not to long other wise the reader will get bored and may not e-mail you back......

• The first e-mail is like the advert the first thing the person sees of you.. So just expend on your advert a little more but dont over do it maybe send your advert the person is replying to with your first e-mail thats what I do if I was looking for a penpal.... But if someone has e-mailed you. Of course answer any questions they may ask you but dont answer them fully if you get our meaning... Do it in such a way to make your new found penpal write back to find out more about you.... If you tell them everything about yourself in 3 e-mails it becomes boring and you wounder what to say in your fouth and so on e-mails....... As you e-mail each other begin to make them longer and maybe exchange pictures.

• If you are writting by letter (snail mail) It is almost the same as e-mail but pen to paper... Try not to say to much to soon like with the e-mails write your letters make them intersting but not to nuch for the first few letters. Write them I would not mind knowing more about him or her I write another ......

• E-mail twice a week
• Write once a month by Snail mail.
• Send a picture once happy to do so.
• Talk about yourself.
• Make yourself intersting.
• Write short right to the point e-mail `s or letter`s at first.
• Enjoy the friendship.
• Respect the other person.
• By e-mail once a day if both of you want that.

• Say to much too soon.
• Give your home number or address until you are happy to do so.
• Say things you dont want your penpal to know.
• Write to much if you e-mailed everyday your new penpal may get fed up with you. Only if both of you want to e-mail everyday then of course do so.
• Send loads of letters or e-mails.
